so yeah my 2024 vw atlas sel premium r-line popped up an error message (an sos one) and the sos light is red! so this just means i need service immediately, but the dealership is super far. at the moment i don't think it's an emergency. i will only have free time over the weekend and it's just monday now lol but for now i don't think there is a problem. i actually called up 2 dealerships already. first one said just to shake it off. next one sent look at the manual. i did but it says stop driving IMMEDIATELY!! but yeah the issue isn't at all related to the emergency call system so i suppose it's normal and chill and not a risk. first off is it safe to drive 1.5 hours if this is the problem? i only drive max 20 minutes from my place to work and to the mall and to my fave cafe, so isn't that super risky? what do i do?

Better to make the sacrifice of going to the dealership, insist that they have to replace the control module. make sure to bring both fob with you so they can be reprogrammed by them.

ok then i'll bring the atlas to the dealer. i'll see if i can file a leave because otherwise i will take so long to get there. i don't want to put myself at risk either.

Red SOS light usually means a fault in the emergency call system, not a critical driving issue. If the car drives fine and no other warnings pop up, short local trips should be okay. I'd still avoid long drives until it's checked though, dealer advice sucks sometimes, but yeah, keep an eye on it

Totally with you on that. It's not a biggie for short runs, but it's definitely wise to tackle it sooner rather than later. Those SOS faults can really catch you off guard sometimes
