I have an Atlas SE which was handed down to me by my uncle. it has about 10K miles in it and i believe the gas tank should empty at around 50 but it was emptied at around 14 gallons.

not sure what happened here or is it correct that the tank should be biigger?

The atlas se typically has a gas tank capacity of around 18 gal. If it emptied at 14 gal, it might not have been entirely full to start or there could be an issue with the fuel gauge. Have you checked for any discrepancies in the gauge readings?

It's totally normal depending on your driving conditions but for the fuel gauge it might not be accurate really. Also check for leaks might be why it's emptying faster than you think it should.

14 gallons is odd if you're expecting 50 miles per tank, the gas gauge might be off perhaps?, or there could be an issue with the fuel sender unit. try filling it again to see if it matches the stated capacity. Sometimes, older bikes develop quirks with the fuel system.

the Atlas SE has an 18.6-gallon tank. If you only got 14 gallons in, the gauge might be off or the pump shut off too soon. Mine does that occasionally too. Maybe try running it a bit lower next time, but don't push it too far
